Addendum: Map Scales

addendum

While the guidelines on distances in Jeosung are limited to the scales on the maps in the book, it has become clear over the past 2 years that these scales didn't match what was required to make this world function as it should. The distances as they are make it difficult to justify certain locations and how they relate to one another. They also make it very difficult for kingdoms and city-states to interact as described in the lore of the book, and this is why I have decided to review the scale of the continent, and subsequently for each realm.

You can now find maps with the revised scales directly within the book itself. If you have bought the book or the digital version of the book either 5e compatible or Pathfinder compatible, you will find that the files have been updated in your account, and you can download them directly from there. If you have received the ebook via the 2019 Kickstarter campaign, feel free to request the updated ebook version directly via Kickstarter private messaging.

I will follow this addendum with a series of upcoming posts that will give more details on distances and travel times between major locations all around Jeosung.

The following modifications apply to both the 5e compatible and the Pathfinder compatible versions of the Koryo Hall of Adventures - Adventurer's Guide to Jeosung.

  • Modified the text from "As many travelers were getting lost between the Kinggil Road and the Hall, the path that leads through the forest was renamed the Path of Fifty Thousand Steps. If travelers are still in the middle of the forest after 50,000 steps, then they probably took a wrong turn" to "As many travelers were getting lost between the Kinggil Road and the Hall, the path that leads through the forest was renamed the Path of Thirty Five Thousand Steps. If travelers are still in the middle of the forest after 35,000 steps, then they probably took a wrong turn."

  • Modified the text from "There are very few convenient spots to set up camp, so travelers are advised to enter the Path of Fifty Thousand Steps only when they will not need to stop for a long rest." to "There are very few convenient spots to set up camp, so travelers are advised to enter the Path of Thirty Five Thousand Steps only when they will not need to stop for a long rest."
